We perform all fields of spine surgery including degenerative, deformity, tumor and traumasurgery. Thoracolumbar spine surgery is mainly operated in the unit of orthopaedic and trauma and cervical spine in the unit of neurosurgery. We also have a big unit for the conservative treatment of spinal disorders. The fellows are wellcome to attend to the treatment of partients in all these units including surgeries. Hospital is a centre for emergency surgery and therefore a fellow can attend to the treatment of emergencies as spinal trauma and metastatic spinal cord compressions. Tampere University hospital is the second biggest university hospital in Finland. It is the only public hospital performing spinal surgery in Pirkanmaa district (500 000 inhabitants). In addition it is a tertiary-referral hospital for over one million inhabitants, which is the catchment area of for complicated surgery as deformities, trauma and tumors. Fellows are also wellcome to train surgical techniques with us in a cadaver training centre (https://www.tays.fi/en-US/Training/Surgical_Education_Centre). Hospital is new and thefore we have a modern facilities including O-arm navigation in both theater unit and Surgical Training Center.

We recommend to bring OR shoes and to take a MRSA screening at home and bring the results here.
