Joint venture: Karolinska & Uppsala
Our AO Host center Karolinska University Hospital offers AO fellows a unique learning experience by collaborating with Uppsala Akademiska University Hospital to host them.

 

Collaboration Overview
Close collaboration 70 km apart, offering broader expertise, advanced clinical cases, and a more diverse learning environment.

 

Rotation Plan
25% in Uppsala
75% at Karolinska
Schedules coordinated in advance.

 

Tele‑Education
Bi‑weekly online case discussions and seminars via Teams/Zoom with participation from both sites.

 

Coordination
Each institution appoints a coordinator to manage logistics and support fellows. The surgeon in charge of fellows in Uppsala is Andreas Thor.

 

Travel
Travel is simple and low‑cost using the SL card, which covers trains between Stockholm and Uppsala.

 

Accommodation
Fellows arrange their own housing; recommendations provided. Hospital apartments may be available depending on occupancy.
